Iron Man 2 Envisions the Future of Computing Interfaces
Technology Review, May 10, 2010 The Iron Man 2 movie had several enticing scenes of the main character interacting with his computer.
When Stark is mid-design and doesn’t like what he’s working on, he grabs it off the projection and throws it into the trash. This allows him to throw away a virtual idea with as much expression as can be used with an idea that’s taken physical form.
At one point, he performs a 3-D scan of a physical model because he wants to create a version that he can manipulate easily. He lifts a projected image off the physical object and becomes able to spin it, change its size, and alter it with flicks of the hand.
What makes the interface look most attractive is how physically involved Stark becomes in design. With the power of voice and gesture combined, Stark is able to give small, quiet commands when contemplative, and become more expansive and hands-on when excited. The vision of a computing device that’s able to adapt so smoothly to the user’s mood and circumstance is compelling to say the least.

This has to be the largest, greatest and most profound Crop Circles (apprx 530 Meters x 450 Meters) since “The Galaxy” formation that appeared at Milk Hill, Wiltshire on 12 August 2001 (The largest crop pattern of all time, 800 feet across, consisting of 409 circles).
It depicts human metamorphosis and transformation!
It appeared near a town in southern Netherlands called Goes, on August 7th 2009, but it has gone unreported in the major Crop Circle websites.
A group in the Netherlands called XL D-sign claim that they did it overnight with a team of 60 people. See: Project Atlas: http://defotograaf.smugmug.com/gallery/9196806_CYoie#613971448_a2RNJ

I would love to see pictures and a proper video of them creating it.

Here is the “proof” they’ve provided that they made it. Convincing… you decide?

Here is my challenge to XL D-sign: post photos and a proper video of the making of this Crop Circles! If you really did and can proof it — I’ll take my hat for your guys!!
Newly released documents show that UFO sightings in the UK leapt five-fold in the same year that the alien invader blockbuster Independence Day was released. So is there a link between UFOs and science-fiction?

At Home with Replicants: The Architecture of Blade Runner
The Tyrell Headquarters seem to be modeled on a Mayan Temple. Internally, its architecture and design is eclectic. A visionary future is held at bay by size. As with the elevation of Deckard’s apartment, here the only concession to the future—albeit an imagined future—is enormity. Conversely, other architectural possibilities are provided by the transformation of the given; however, the transformation in question is decay. What comes to be juxtaposed within the cosmopolitan urban fabric is decay—the continuity rather than the teleology of decay—and the modern vast. The replicant is seen as a threat within this context. It is as this point that the constraint governing both architecture and film needs to be reintroduced.

Sarychev Peak on Matua Island is one of the most active volcanoes in the Kuril Island chain, northeast of Japan. Astronauts took this photo of an eruption on June 12. The plume appears to be a combination of brown ash and white steam. The vigorously rising plume gives the steam a bubble-like appearance; the surrounding atmosphere has been shoved up by the shock wave of the eruption.

Ray Kurzweil can’t wait to be a Cyborg—a human mind inside an everlasting machine. But is this the next great leap in human evolution, or just one man’s midlife crisis writ large?
